Dear Readers,
Have I ever told you that
I think Grandchildren rock? Oh I am sure I have!!
My 11 year old granddaughter
Justine is spending the weekend with me and we are having a blast!! She
is so funny and she makes me laugh so much. Good medicine for a Grandmother
indeed!!
She arrived last night with
her laundry and game boy and the latest "Harry Potter" book. She informed
me that she wanted some hot dogs please and settled in. She told me that
Mommy's boyfriend is a great chef but he had made stew and she wanted real
food. So needless to say we promplty boiled up two wieners and made her
hotdogs. After all an 11 year old knows real food from um um shall we say
-- what is good for us? :)
We watched some tv and played
on the computer for awhile and then decided it was too hot in the house
so we shut things down and went out to the back deck with everyone else.
We turned the music up in the kitchen and sat outside chatting with everyone
for a while.
As the night rolled in and
the sky darkened with flashes of heat lightening we chatted and sang along
with my cds and had a few dances together.
Justine has to be the funniest
child I have ever met. She keeps me laughing and sometimes almost uncontrollably,
along with all of the rest of my little family here. We were laughing so
hard my Uncle Tommy nearly fell out of his chair!!
I was sure the neighbours
would be coming over at any second to see if something odd was going on
at my house. I am sure they wanted to call the paddy wagon and have me
locked up for my own protection - but Justine wanted to dance so we did.
:) Right out there on the back deck in front of the world. I had a blast!!
The music played and I watched
my family and my Auntie Barb bee-bopping away in her chair and my brother
Cecil rocking on in his and Uncle Tommy dancing sitting in his chair. Everyone
was smiling and I realized how good life can be. :)
Ah yes it is the simple things
in life that make us the happiest for sure.
Today Justine decided we
should have hamburgs so that is exactly what we made for supper. I mean
all that grease had to be good for us - right ?
She also decided that since
it was so darn hot I should make banana splits so off to the grocery we
went and stocked up on ice cream and popcicles and mellow yellow pop. Just
what the doctor -- um um the grandchild ordered. :)
Justine decided tv was boring
and got my brother Cecil to walk up to the garage with her and rent movies.
She chose two and brought them home and now we have been relaxing in the
cool rec room watching them.
Figured I would work on the
newsletter at the same time so I can accomplish a few things before the
thunderstorm hits that we are supposed to have tonight.
I have been informed by Justine
that once this last movie is over it is time for me to make banana splits.
It is nice that she has my schedule all mapped out for the weekend. She
will make someone a good secretary one day I am sure. :)
Tomorrow we are having a
bbq so Justine helped me plan the menu. All healthy foods too. We are bbqing
chicken and pork butt chops and making a nice chef's salad and roast potatoes.
It was fun watching her choose the fresh veggies for the salad today at
the grocery. I am so thankful she loves veggies and fruit in between hotdogs
and hamburgers.
Well I must go as Justine
is calling me for the next part of our weekend schedule -- "What's that
Justine? What do you mean where are the tall candles so we can toast marshmallows?
" I knew I should not have taught her how to do that!!! hummm
now I wonder how marshmallows got into my grocery cart ? I know I was watching
every minute!!!
Until next time
Take care of yourselves and
God Bless
hugs
