There are few things in this world more important to me then an honest and heart to heart friendship.

Friendships come in many ways and in many forms. The warmth of the companionship that wraps around you like a gentle but firm hug. A companionship that is felt even miles apart . Even though you can not be with the person that knows you inside out you still feel the companionship snuggling you close. From that companionship comes a closeness that can not be matched.

The honesty of a true friendship is so important. Knowing you can just be yourself no matter what and no matter what the situation is good or bad. Knowing that the other person does not judge you in any way regardless if you are right or wrong in something you have done. Knowing you do not have to hold anything back because the other person understands even if they do not always agree with what it is.

The trust of an honest friendship goes far. Knowing you can trust your heart and soul to the person you consider your friend. Knowing you will not be betrayed for any reason on earth. Knowing that if you have an argument that you do not have to worry that your friend will betray something you told them to someone else because they are upset with you. Knowing you can work anything out if you sit down and discuss both persons views and feelings on the subject in question.

The security that a heart to heart friendship brings. Knowing that where ever you go or where ever you may be your friend is there with you in spirit and thought.
When the rest of the world lets you down you can be assured that your true friend won't. Unconditonal friendship that does not expect anything from you that you can not give. Knowing your friend give all of themselves to the friendship because they know you are giving all of you back.

The support that your true friend gives you when you need it most is so important. Knowing that no matter what your friend is doing they are never to busy to support your thoughts and feelings when you need them most. Knowing they will drop what they are doing if they possibly can to be there for you because they truely love you. Respect is another major quality of a true friendship. 

The laughter that you share over things big and small. Even over some things that have gone wrong or things that would be embarassing otherwise. Mostly the laughter they put in your heart. The laughter that sometimes erupts even when you are not together because you may think of something you did when you were together.

A true heart to heart friendship that is fullfilling in every aspect means more then words can even say. A true heart to heart friendship is a very healthy one to have. A friendship that brings a smile to your face when you think of your friend during the day.

Communication is a dire necessity in a true friendship because if you can not and do not have communication you can not build the other qualities that are so much a part of a heart to heart friendship.

All the highlighted words are what heart to heart frienship means to me. There are many casual friendships that cross your path as you walk through life but there are few truely heart to heart friendships that last a lifetime.

A true heart to heart friendship is like a good marriage in many ways. In fact I expect the same things in both kinds of relationships. Without all of these things then something will always feel like it is missing between you and your friend. A true heart to heart friendship takes work on both parts every day of your life. It is not handed to you on a silver platter - it is earned.

Remember to have a true friend you have to be a true friend.
